EMS Values Diversity & Inclusivity

At EMS, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience the ocean. We work to remove barriers to make this possible and actively work towards inclusivity in our programs. We have implemented the following measures to welcome people of all backgrounds and abilities to join our events and snorkel tours:

  • Inclusive Subcommittee: Our subcommittee includes individuals living with disabilities and those with experience working with people with disabilities.
  • Inclusive and Disability Awareness Training: Provided to all EMS staff and volunteers.
  • Mobi Chair Floating Beach Wheelchair: Available to help people with disabilities enter and exit the water safely.

  • Reef Board: Available for individuals who may struggle with using a snorkel or submerging their face in the water.

  • Adapted Equipment and Wetsuits: We provide specialised gear to support people with disabilities on community snorkel tours.
  • Masks with Magnification: Available for people with vision impairments.
  • Indoor Pool Snorkel Classes: Open to individuals of all ages and abilities needing additional support, instruction, or practice. Many participants build confidence in pool sessions to join ocean snorkels.
